Marvin R. Watson (1934-2017)

Marvin R. WatsonMarvin R. Watson was born September 16, 1934, in Greenville County, SC to parents Pearl Bridges Watson and Charles B. Watson. He received his B.S. from the University of South Carolina and his J.D. from USC School of Law.


He was a retired Lt. Colonel in the Army National Guard, where he was a member of the JAG Corps. He began practicing law with the Anderson Law Firm and later opened the Watson Law Firm. He was a member of the Greenwood legal community for 61 years.


He was a member of the SC Bar, U.S. Court of Appeals, Fourth Judicial Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.


He was a member of the Shriner Club, Lions Club, IPTAY Club, Gamecock Club and First Baptist Church of Greenwood, where he taught Sunday school class.


Marvin R. Watson died on December 12, 2017. His wife, Ellen Watson passed away in 2021. He is survived by his children, Janis W. Anagnost (Michael), Marvin R. Watson, II (Melanie), and Jennifer L. Watson; and six grandchildren, Cole Anagnost, Christopher Anagnost, Ginny Anagnost, Maggie Watson, Ellie Watson, and Bailey Watson.
