Born in Lincolnton, North Carolina, son of D.W. and Edith Childs Robinson, A.B., Roanoke College, 1919; M.A. and LL.B., University of South Carolina, 1921; Harvard Law School; admitted to Bar, 1921.

Bar Association, and the South Carolina Bar; Fellow and Regent, American College of Trial Lawyers; life member, American Law Institute; Chairman, South Carolina Judicial Council; co-founder, Memory Hold the Door; member, South Carolina Educational Finance Commission; member, American Bar Association for fifty years.
Mr. Robinson was Moderator of the South Carolina Synod of the Presbyterian Church. He received honorary degrees from the University and from Presbyterian College. He was Director, C & S National Bank and the University’s Research and Development Foundation.
He married first Elizabeth Gibbes; two children, David, Jr., and Caroline Ellerbe; second, Susan Gibbes Woodward; one child, Heyward Gibbes Robinson. Dave Robinson was recognized as the complete lawyer.
