Henry Busbee (1892–1987)

Henry Busbee was one of the most distinguished members of the Aiken County Bar Association. He practiced law for 58 years before retiring in 1976. He was Aiken City Attorney for 39 years and attorney for the Aiken County Schools for 49 years. He was named a special justice of the South Carolina Supreme Court in 1948. He served as president of the South Carolina City Attorneys Association, the Aiken County Bar, the Aiken Rotary Club, the Aiken Chamber of Commerce and the Aiken Business Men’s Club.

Born at Wagener, he was one of 13 children of James Emmanuel and Ella Tyler Busbee. He was a vestryman of St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church. He died in Aiken, October 29, 1987.
