William Eldridge Jenkinson, Jr. (1912–1991)

The best part of a good man’s life [is] His little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love.

William Eldridge Jenkinson, Jr. was a good man devoted to family, profession, state and nation. Born in Kingstree May 27, 1912, son of William Jenkinson and Louisa Caroline Haynsworth Jenkinson; Citadel graduate; football team letterman; devoted alumnus. Graduate of Georgetown University School of Law; admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1940. Served in the United States Army (1941–1945) attaining rank of captain. Began practicing law in Kingstree in 1945, and married Gordon Brockington. Father of four children.

President of Williamsburg County Bar Association 1982–1991; Founder of Jenkinson & Jenkinson, where two lawyer sons joined him. Twice elected Mayor of Kingstree; member and official of his church; active in Scouting, received its Silver Beaver Award. Died January 19, 1991. We gratefully remember him and his acts of kindness and love.
