A native of Laurens, Albert Creswell Todd was educated at the University of South Carolina, where he received A.B. and LL.B. degrees, the latter in 1901. He married Miss Eva Brownlee of Albany, Georgia, in 1908. He practiced in Laurens with United States Senator N.B. Dial. In 1929, he moved to Greenwood and practiced with the firm which has included such outstanding lawyers as F. Barron Grier, J.B. Park and M.G. McDonald.
He was greatly interested in the work of the Southern Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Laurens and Greenwood; a Trustee of Thornwell Orphanage and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Presbyterian College.
He was Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of South Carolina and General Solicitor of the C&WL Railway Company. Also, he was Director of the State Bank and Trust Company, the Laurens Mill and the CN&L Railroad.
He had a keen sense of humor; was a favorite Sunday School teacher, and wise in counsel. He was, throughout his career, a forceful and tenacious advocate.
