Maurice Herndon Moore (1866–1910)Maurice Moore graduated from Wofford College with an A.B. and from the University of South Carolina with an LL.B. He practiced law in Columbia from 1887 until 1901. He served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of South Carolina School of Law from 1901 until 1906, as a Professor of Law from 1906 until 1908 and as Dean of the Law School from 1908 until his death in 1910.

Dean Moore was an able practitioner with a flair for research. As a teacher, he possessed rare endowments and as Dean, he was a forward looking administrator, bending every effort to increase the requirements and standards of the Law School, in which he was markedly successful.
