Eugene Bryant was the son of Wade Hampton and Mamie Robinson Bryant. He was educated in the Greenville public schools, at the Webb School in Bellbuckle, Tennessee, at Georgia Tech, and received an LL.B. from Furman University in 1927.
He was a senior partner in the firm of Haynsworth, Perry, Bryant, Marion and Johnstone (Haynsworth and Haynsworth) and was active in insurance, corporate and estate work.
He served as President of the Greenville County Bar Association, the Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Red Cross, the Community Chest, the YMCA, the County Foundation, the Community Council, the American Business Club, and the Chamber of Commerce. He was also a Deacon, Teacher, and Scout Master of the First Baptist Church.
He served as Director of Southern Bank and Trust Company, the United Family Life Insurance Company, and the Blue Ridge Assembly of Black Mountain, North Carolina. He was a member of the Green Valley Country Club and the Cotillion Club.
He married Harriet Pullen of Jacksonville, Florida and they had three children, Edith, Wade and Eugenia. He was a devoted family man, his home and mountain retreat, “Hob Nob”, were the joys of his life.
With enthusiasm, optimism, and faith in God, he shared the burdens of others.
