George E. Grimball, Jr. (1923–2004)

George E. Grimball, Jr. graduated from the University of Virginia Law School in 1948 and practiced tax law in Charleston, South Carolina. He also served as special attorney for the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C. and New York, N.Y.

His professional affiliations include service as past president and chair of the board of the Southern Federal Tax Institute, member of the American College of Trust and Estate Council, past president of the Kiwanis Club, first vice chair of the Charleston chapter of the American Red Cross, member of the board of directors of the Charleston YMCA, member of the board of trustees of the Enston Homes and board member for the Church Street Foundation.

Grimball is survived by his wife, Lavinia; son, George Elliott Grimball III; daughter, Lavinia Grimball Howell, wife of Samuel Wilson Howell III; and grandsons, John Grimball Howell, William Rhett Howell, and Joseph Maybank Howell.
