To find books in the law library, search the Law Library Catalog for what you need.
You can search for a specific title or author if you like.
Or you can search for a subject, such as torts.
After you press Enter or click the Search button, you will see a list of results.
If you're only interested in online materials, you can select Available Online under Availability on the left.
Or, if you're only interested in physical books at the law library, you can filter your search results by Library on the left.
After you have run a search in the library catalog, you will see a list of search results.
You can click on a title in the results list to see details about that book.
Click on Available Online below the title of an ebook or article in an online journal. Then a direct link will appear, and you can login with your USC login to access the text.
Ask at the Reference desk how to find a physical book using a call number, such as KF1250 .J64 2009.
Sign in with your USC login to see more ways to request a book.
The Request link only appears after you have clicked on a title to get details and you have signed in.
For example, by clicking Request, you can place a hold on a checked-out book. A librarian will email you when the book is available.
As another example, you can Request to borrow books from other libraries in the USC system. Their books and ours are all searchable together in the same library catalog.
If possible, the book you request will be made available for you to pickup and return at the law library's Circulation desk.
You can check out and check in borrowed materials at the law library's Circulation desk.
Your Carolina Card (law student ID) is your library card.
How long something can be checked out varies by the type of material.
