As a law student, you have unlimited access to Lexis and Westlaw. These resources are very expensive for practicing lawyers, and cost concerns often cause lawyers to limit their usage.
You also have unlimited access to Fastcase as a law student. The South Carolina Bar provides Fastcase for free to South Carolina lawyers, so they can accomplish basic legal research tasks affordably. Bar associations in numerous other states do the same.
Our Free Internet Legal Resources guide (click on the image below) is a collection of reliable and free resources that can be part of cost-effective research. For example, the Government Publishing Office's (GPO's) govinfo includes digitized print primary resources that are authenticated and official. Because these PDF pages appear online exactly as they are in print, they are reliable for citation purposes under Bluebook Rule 12.2.1.
