Classification of Patents and Patent Search Resources for Inventors

Patent searchers will often start a search by looking up the places where an invention is classified in order to make a more thorough and effective search. At other times, patent searchers will meet with patent examiners in order to obtain a field of search.

United State Patent and Trademark Databases for Patent Searching

The status of a patent application can be checked through the Patent Application Information Retrieval (PAIR) System.
