Elected to the position of South Carolina Circuit Court Judge for the Fourth Judicial Circuit in June 1984 and served until his retirement on June 27, 2000; Served as Active Retired Circuit Court Judge for the Fourth Judicial Circuit from 2000 to 2014; Elected to South Carolina State House of Representatives from Marlboro County in 1954, where he served from 1955 until 1958; Elected to South Carolina State House of Representatives again in 1966, where he served from 1967 until 1972.
