Born Florence, son of Frederick L. and Clara Chase Willcox. A.B., University of North Carolina; LL.B and LL.D., University of South Carolina. Admitted to Bar 1930. Senior partner, Willcox, McLeod, Buyck and Williams.

President, South Carolina Bar Association. Durant Distinguished Public Service Award. President, Florence County Bar Association. Fourth Circuit Bar Conference, American Bar Association, American Judicature Society, Association of Railroad Trial Counsel and Federation of Insurance Counsel.

Trustee and Trustee Emeritus, University of South Carolina; Trustee, St. Mary’s College, McLeod Regional Medical Center, and Florence Museum.

Warden and Vestryman, St. John’s Episcopal Church; chairman, State Library Board and Peoples Federal Savings Bank.

Married, first, Julia Johnson Willcox, and second, Polly Robinson Willcox, who survived with brother, son, son-in-law and grandson, leading lawyers.

Known for genial disposition, civility, courtesy and ethical standards. Extremely popular bar leader. To know him was to love him, to mention him to praise.
