David Aiken Gaston (1903–1988)

Son of Judge Arthur Lee Gaston of Chester and Virginia Carolina Aiken of Greenwood, S.C. Lived entire life in Chester. Practiced law first with his father and later with his daughter and son.

Elected president of South Carolina Bar Association. Graduated University of South Carolina and its Law School, member of USC Board of Trustees, president of Alumni Association, trustee of USC Educational Foundation. Member, S.C. House of Representatives. Chairman, S.C. Highway Commission. President, Chester County Bar Association, Chester Rotary Club, Chester Chamber of Commerce, Chester United Fund. Received Silver Beaver Award for leadership in Boy Scouts. Elder and chairman, Board of Deacons, Purity Presbyterian Church. Trustee Presbyterian Home of South Carolina. Married Reubie Grissette Holliday of Galivants Ferry, S.C. Survived by children Virginia Gaston Hennig and Arthur Lee Gaston, II, both attorneys, and six grandchildren.

Tall and erect in appearance, meticulous in every detail, self-effacing, approachable and always courteous.
