Raymond Braddy Hildebrand (1904–1954)

Raymond Hildebrand was a native of St. Matthews, South Carolina. He was educated at the University of South Carolina, receiving both A.B. and LL.B. degrees. In 1930, he formed a law partnership with the late Thomas F. McDow. He married Miss Henrietta Jordan of Union in 1934.

His interests were many outside of his profession. He was a leader in organizations both statewide and local, serving as a Trustee of the University of South Carolina and as York County Attorney for 16 years.

Mr. Hildebrand was a respected and beloved Bible teacher and a Deacon of the York First Presbyterian Church of York. He was industrious, a formidable but fair adversary, possessed of intellectual honesty, strongly independent, had strong convictions as to right and wrong, and an ever-present compassion for the unfortunate.
